How we make guides
Every guide is built from facts we can trace to a source, and no page appears until a person has reviewed it.
1. We research the facts
Facts that change, such as entry rules, safety, transport, prices and climate, are researched with an AI model that searches the web. Each fact is saved with its sources and the date it was checked.
When the model cites nothing, we keep the pages its search returned. So a source on SoWhere means the fact was searched for, not that every line of it was checked against that page. That is why the next step exists.
2. A person reviews the facts
A new fact starts as needing review. It is not shown anywhere until an editor has read it against its sources and approved it.
3. We write only from reviewed facts
Descriptions, highlights and month notes are written from facts that have already been reviewed, never the other way round. The copy is reviewed too. If a section is regenerated later, it stays hidden until it has been reviewed again.
4. Every page is reviewed before it is published
A guide can be published only when every section it needs has been reviewed. Until then it is not on the site, which is why some places you might expect are not listed yet.
How we rate the months
Each month is rated Ideal, Good, Workable, Poor or Avoid on weather, crowds and cost together. A warm month that is also crowded and expensive can rate lower than a cooler, quieter one. Ratings are shown as words as well as colour.
Photos
Photos come from Wikimedia Commons. Each one carries its author and licence, and we print them at the foot of the page. We do not use generated images in guides.
Ready-made trips
The ready-made trips are built from places in the same catalogue, and they are reviewed before they are published, like the guides.
What we cannot promise
Things change after we check them. Every guide shows when it was last updated; for entry rules, safety and prices, confirm with the official source before you travel. If you find a mistake, write to hello@sowhere.io.
